How to Fix Windows Hello not Working on Windows 11

Most of the Windows 11 errors are related to different underlying causes and the same goes for Windows Hello. Dealing with this problem as soon as it happens will ensure that no time is wasted on each boot.

While the main cause of your Windows Hello not working is an update issue, there can be a number of other reasons as well

What can I do if I see a Windows Hello error Something went wrong on Windows 11?

A. Install latest windows update

Several users report, after installing the latest windows update all existing windows hello errors disappeared. In addition, install the latest windows update you will get security improvements and optimization.

B. Uninstall the Windows Hello Face Software Device

1. Press Windows Key + S and it will open the Search box. Now type device manager in the search box and select Device manager 

2. Open Device Manager. Double click on Biometric devices. Right-click on Windows Hello Face Software Device. Choose Uninstall device

What this trick is doing is removing the old driver and forcing it to reinstall when Windows reboots. Once the driver is reinstalled, your Windows Hello Face recognition should be good to go.

C. Reset the facial recognition and fingerprint options

1. Press the Windows  + I key combination. Now go to Accounts from the left tab.

2. Click Sign-in options

3. Now locate Facial recognition and Fingerprint recognition

4. Click Remove to reset them.

5. Now click Get started and follow the onscreen instructions to continue setting up the new fingerprint and facial recognition feature.

6. When done, restart your computer.

Simply resetting the fingerprint and facial recognition options that make up Windows Hello's security system can help fix this problem.

After your computer restarts, check if Windows Hello is working.

D. Tweak the Windows Registry

Sometimes you may encounter windows hello facial recognition not working problem because the PIN login process for domain users has been reset during this process. And PIN login needs to be enabled again on windows 11 to use Windows Hello. You can achieve that by modifying the Windows registry.

1. Press Windows Key + R, type regedit and click ok to open registry editor,

2. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

3. Right click in the empty space, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value and name the newly created entry AllowDomainPINLogon.

4. Here In the right panel locate and double click AllowDomainPINLogon and set data value 1

Once done, restart your Windows device and check if Windows Hello not working is fixed or not.
