Display Larger or Smaller Than Monitor in Windows 10

You may want to use the monitor with your Windows 10 laptop or desktop to increase your productivity. However, some Windows users are experiencing issues where their screen is larger or smaller than the screen size. In this article, we will see some simple solutions to fix this display problem in Windows 10.

A. Check screen resolution and aspect ratio

The first thing you need to do is check the Screen Resolution and Aspect Ratio. There are probably two settings you need to check, Windows 10's Display settings and your Display Manufacturer's settings.

To check Windows10 Display Settings, launch Settings with Win + I. Go to System > Display, now set your Display Resolution to Recommended (if it is on “Recommended”. try going back and forth on Screen Resolution until you find the perfect one for your Monitor).

If this doesn't solve your problem, go to Factory settings. If not, you can download it from the official website of the manufacturer. There you need to set the Screen Resolution and Aspect Ratio set correctly. You should always set the aspect ratio to fit your screen.

B. Graphics driver management

If you still cannot scale your screen correctly, try to manage your Graphics Driver. You need to do three things.

Rollback Driver

The first thing you can do to fix the error is Roll Back the driver. To do that, launch Device Manager with Windows Key + X,  expand Display Drivers, right click on your Graphics Driver and select Properties. Go to the Drivers tab and click Roll Back Driver.

If the option is grayed out, your driver is not up to date so try updating it.

Update drivers

To update your driver, open Device Manager, expand Display Drivers, right-click your Graphics Driver, and select Update Driver.

Follow the on-screen instructions to update your Driver

Reinstall the driver

To reinstall your driver, open Device Manager, expand Display Drivers, right-click your Graphics Driver, and select Uninstall Device.

Now unplug and re-plug the device and check if it fixes the problem. If you are getting this error with your home screen, don't unplug it, right click on Display Driver and select Scan for hardware changes.

Hopefully we have helped you fix the Windows 10 screen is bigger or smaller than the screen.
