How to Remove the Recently Added List From Start Menu In Windows 10

1. In your Windows 10 device, select the Start button, then select Settings. Click Personalize.

2. Under Personalization, click Start. Click the Show Recently Added Apps switch to Off the feature.

Remove Recently Added Apps from Start Menu Using Group Policy

1. In a Windows 10 device, click Start typing gpedit.msc in the search to run the Local Group Policy Editor.

2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar. Double-click the Remove “Recently Added” policy from the Start Menu to edit it.

 

3. Select Enabled, click Apply and OK.

Note: If this policy is enabled, the Start Menu will no longer show the “Recently added” list.

4. Close the Local Group Policy Editor. You need to sign out and in or restart the device for it to take effect immediately.

Remove Recently Added Apps from Start Menu Using Registry

1. Open Notepad, Copy and paste below registry value into text editor.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer]

"HideRecentlyAddedApps" = dword: 00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer]

"HideRecentlyAddedApps" = dword: 00000001

2. It will look like in the following syntax, when you see the file.

3. In the File menu, Choose Save As and click Browse to your preferred folder or location. In the File name box, provide the appropriate name “FileName.reg” with the .reg extension and Select Save as type “All” from the drop-down list. Click to save.

4. The registry file will appear on your saved location. To start the executable, Double Click or Right Click and select Merge Options on the saved .reg file contents to merge into the local registry.

5. An alert box with the following messages is prompted, Click Yes to continue.

6. When the Information in the path of the .reg file is successfully imported into the registry, the prompt below will appear. Click OK.
