Besides rolling out new features, Windows 11 also kills some Windows 10 features. "When upgrading to Windows 11 from Windows 10 or installing Windows 11, some features may no longer be available, or removed," Microsoft stated.
Here are the details of the features that are no longer available on Windows 11:
- Cortana will no longer be included in the initial launch experience or pinned to the Taskbar
- Wallpaper is no longer transferred between devices when signed in with a Microsoft account
- Internet Explorer is disabled. Microsoft Edge is the recommended alternative, equipped with IE Mode

- Quick Status from the Lockscreen and related settings removed
- S Mode is only available on Windows 11 Home
- The Snipping Tool continues to exist, but the old design and functionality of the Windows 10 version will be replaced by the features of the Snip & Sketch application.
- The Start menu has major changes on Windows 11 including the following limitations and removals:
- Pinned apps and websites are not preserved after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11
- Live Tiles removed, replaced with Widgets
- Tablet Mode removed
- The changed Taskbar functions include:
- Some icons may no longer appear in the System Tray for upgraded devices, including previous customizations.
- The taskbar is locked at the bottom edge of the screen, cannot be changed vị
- Apps can no longer customize the space on the Taskbar
- Timeline removed. Some similar features will be available on Microsoft Edge
- The touch keyboard is no longer capable of attaching and unmounting keyboard layouts on screens 18 inches and larger
- Wallet app removed
- The following apps won't be removed when upgrading, but are no longer installed on new devices or when installing Windows 11 from scratch. They can only be downloaded from the Microsoft Store:
