How to Check Your Graphics Card in Windows 10

There are many ways to find out what type of graphics card is in your computer.

Every laptop and computer is powered by a graphics processor (GPU). Without one, you won't get an image on your screen. Some machines have a built-in GPU in the motherboard or processor, while others have dedicated graphics cards.

If you don't know what graphics card you have, you can easily find it out using different methods.

A. Test your graphics card through Settings

1. Press Windows Key+ I to open Settings.
2. Click System. You will be on the Display by default section.
3. Under Multiple displays, click Advanced Display Settings.
4. There may be different graphics cards connected to different monitors. If necessary, use the drop-down menu to select your home screen.
5. Under Display information, it will display the type of graphics card you have Connected to for that monitor.

B. Test your graphics card through the Task Manager

1. Right click on your taskbar.
2. Click Task Manager.
3. If necessary, click More details.
4. Switch to the Performance tab.
5. On the left side, click on GPU 0 (you'll see GPU 1, GPU 2, etc. if you have multiple graphics cards).
6. In the upper right, the name of your graphics card is displayed.

C. Test your graphics card through the DirectX Diagnostic Tool

1. Press Windows Key+ I to open Run.
2. Enter dxdiag and click OK. This will open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
3. Switch to the Display tab.
4. Under Device, the Name of your graphics card is displayed.

D. Test your graphics card via Device Manager

1. Press Windows Key+ X
2. Click Device Manager.
3. Double-click Display adapters. This will list all of your graphics cards.

If necessary, double-click the graphics card to open its properties to view additional information about the driver or view event logs. For example, you can switch to the Drivers tab and click Update Driver to search online for the latest drivers.

E. Check your graphics card via System Info

1. Enter System Information in the Start Menu search bar, then select Best match.
2. On the left pane, double-click Components.
3. Click Display
4. On the right pane, the Name of your graphics card is displayed.

You can also use System Information to learn about your other components, like an audio device or storage drive, or check the Software Environment for things like running services or print jobs.
