How to Disable ‘Found New Hardware’ Message on Windows 10

When Windows detects a new hardware, it will sometimes prompt the user with the message "New hardware found". Most of these messages are informational and essential. When you connect a new device, this message notifies you of the system's recognition of the device. We recommend that you do not stop these messages as they notify you whether it has successfully installed. However, due to a faulty device drive, users can get this message even if they don't connect any devices. In this article, we will show you some methods that can turn off this message.

Enable / Disable the message New hardware found
This notification will be enabled by default in Windows 10. It will show the message box for any new connected devices. However, there are situations where the user may want to disable this feature. Sometimes this message displays every time a user starts up the computer or continues to display due to faulty hardware. We have provided several methods by which you can either disable that particular faulty hardware or turn off the messaging feature entirely. You can choose any of the methods below that best suit your situation.
A. Disable problematic hardware in Device Manager
If your device regularly displays an unimportant message, simply disable it in device manager. This is the easiest way as this will just stop notifying the specific hardware. As we already know the pop-up notifications for new hardware is quite important, so disabling the faulty hardware would be a better choice.
1. Press Windows Keys+ R combination to open the Run dialog box. Now type devmgmt.msc into it and press Enter key to open Device Manager.
2. Now, search for the devices where the message is displayed. Right click on it and choose the option Turn off device.
Note: To re-enable it, right-click on it and select the option Turn on device.
3. Notifications for that specific device will stop showing up.
B. Disable the message New hardware found through the Local Group Policy Editor
This method will completely disable the "New hardware found" message from the system. If the first method doesn't work, then this will be the only option left for the user. Local Group Policy Editor can be used to tweak almost anything for your operating system.
1. Press Windows Keys+ R to open the Run dialog box. Type gpedit.msc into it and press Enter to open Local Group Policy Editor.
2. On the left pane of Local Group Policy Editor, navigate to the following location:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Device Installation
3. Double-click the Turn off Found New Hardware balloons during device installation policy. This will open a new window, you can now modify the conversion from Not Configured to Enabled. Click the Ok button to apply the changes.
Note: To re-enable notifications, simply modify the switch from Enabled to Not Configured.
4. This will stop displaying notifications for new hardware.
C. Turn off the New hardware found message through Registry Editor
This method will also completely disable the "New hardware found" message using Registry Editor. If your system doesn't have the Local Group Policy Editor, you can use this method to accomplish the same goal. Unlike other methods, this is a bit technical and requires a few additional steps from the user. The user will need to generate a key / value for the specific settings they are trying to modify. Follow the steps below to try disabling notifications:
1. Press Windows Keys+ R open the Run dialog box. Type regedit into the Run dialog box and press the Enter key to open Registry Editor.
2. On the left pane of the Registry Editor, navigate to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceInstall\Settings
3. Now create a new value by right-clicking anywhere on the right pane and choosing New Value>DWORD (32-bit). Name it DisableBalloonTips
4. Double-click the value and set the Value data to 1. Click the Ok button to apply.
Note: To re-enable the message, just change the value data to 0 or just completely delete the value you just created.
5. To make sure this works, reboot your computer and test.
