How to Fix Keyboard Lag in Windows 10

When using the keyboard, if you experience a lag between typing and text appearing on the screen, this article will help you fix the problem. Since the problem can have many different reasons, any of the solutions might work.

However, it is mostly due to connection issues or driver issues that add to latency. However, before starting, make sure the Keyboard is not loosely connected to the computer. That's one of the reasons why people see latency and can be fixed quite quickly.

Method 1. Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

1. Press Windows Key + I. Open Settings

2. Go to Update & Security and choose Troubleshoot.

3. Select Keyboard from the list. Click the Run keyboard troubleshooter button

Method 2. Turn off filter keys

1. Press Windows Key + I. Open Settings

2. Go to Ease of Access > Keyboard

3. Under Use Filter Keys section turn off the toggle

Method 3. Reduce key repeat interval

1. Press Windows Key + R to open run prompt and type control Keyboard

2. It will open the Keyboard Properties WindowsSwitch to Speed section, and then adjust the repeat delay and repeat rate for the Keyboard

Method 4. Uninstall and reinstall the Keyboard

1. Press Windows Key + X. Open Device Manager

2. Expand the Keyboard section, and select your Keyboard

3. Right-click on it, and choose to uninstall the device

4. Next, click on Action many, and then select scan for hardware changes.

5. The Keyboard will be detected, and the driver will be automatically installed.
